Congratulations to i-sense students Colleen Loynachan, Ben MillerHarriet Gliddon and Candice Keane, whose posters took top spots at this summer's i-sense Biannual Meeting Poster Awards 2015. The students were awarded unique 3D printed trophies (created by our Exploratory Project partner Dr Steve Hilton from the UCL School of Pharmacy) for the following posters: 

  • 1st place: Colleen Loynachan for her poster "Point-of-Care Assays Based on Enzyme Mimetic Nanoparticles"
  • 2nd place: Ben Miller for his poster "Smartphones for smart healthcare - connected paper diagnostics"
  • 3rd place: Candice Keane for her poster "Towards a Smart Phone connected Test for Influenza: Detection of Nucleoprotein and Development of an Immunobarcode 
  • 4th place: Harriet Gliddon for her poster "“Shining a light on TB: Engineering a fluorescent nanoparticle-based test for tuberculosis”

The students, from the Stevens Group at Imperial College and the McKendry group at UCL, were presented with their prizes by Sarah Hobbs on behalf of i-sense funder, the EPSRC. Congratulations to them and well done to all of our talented students who presented their posters at the meeting- it was great to see all their enthusiasm, dedication and hard work turned into some very interesting (and even interactive) posters!
