A huge congratulations to Prof Dame Anne Johnson who has been elected as the next Academy of Medical Sciences President, taking over the post from Professor Sir Robert Lechler on 3 December 2020.

Prof Dame Johnson, who is Prof of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Co-Director of Health of the Public at University College London, and an i-sense Strategic Advisor, will be the 6th Academy President.

 

Throughout her career, she has worked in research in the epidemiology and prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted infections and other infectious diseases.

 

Prof of Biomedical Engineering at UCL and i-sense Director, Prof Rachel McKendry, said: "On behalf of the i-sense project, I am delighted to say a huge congratulations to Anne on becoming President of the Academy of Medical Sciences. She will undoubtedly be an influential leader of the Academy during the pandemic and beyond, given her pioneering research on the health of the public, in the UK and globally."
