Waleed has obtained his PhD degree from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. His research is mainly related to develop selective and sensitive nanosensors for the isolation and detection of biomolecules in biological fluids using SERS and electrochemical techniques. Later, he joined the Centre for Molecular Nanometrology in the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK as a postdoctoral research associate in Professors Duncan Graham & Karen Faulds' research group. He is currently involved in the ultra-sensitive enhanced nanosensing of anti-microbial resistance project funded by EPSRC. The basic aim of the project is to create a sensitive, rapid and point of care assay that provides an assessment of antimicrobial resistance using specific nucleic acid sequences.
